Authorized Medical Attendant (AMA): The Authorised Medical Attendant (AMA) is a medical professional appointed by the central government of India. Their service is to provide medical care to selected central government employees or pensioners across India. AMA was appointed both in government and private hospitals.
AMA doctors provide medical care to employees and pensioners. The medical care provided to pensioners comes under the medical allowance which was reduce the financial burden. Fixed Medical Allowances for pensioners are provided by the central government to reduce the financial burden and medical expenses. If the pensioner does not find a hospital provided near the area they can take a medical check-up in the CGHS dispensary in the nearest city.
